A Jersey for Lucía

At the Copa del Rey match last Thursday, this woman from Andalucia named Lucía was in the stands, right in the front row, and she is a Busquets superfan. The club put a short video and news release on their site about it. She came up from her home town Cordoba, deep in the south of Spain, in the hopes of seeing Busquets up close and she had written him a card to try to get to him. But she was so excited, just to see him in the warmup, that Sergio noticed it, the club staff noticed it, and so they got some video of her. By the time the match coverage was about to start, the BEin commentators were already talking about it, and I wasn’t paying too close attention to it at first, but then I saw the article on the club’s website. After the match, Sergio came over to her, talked to her for a minute, took a picture with her, and gave her his match jersey. What I love about this is how beside herself she was with emotion, in general, but specifically for Sergio.

FC Barcelona B

Barça B won 2-1. They went down when Juanjo Narváez scored for Cordoba in the 36’ minute, but a penalty taken by Carles Aleña and a 93rd-minute goal from Nahuel got the boys three much-needed points. This shot them into 14th place in the table with 30 points. But, four other teams also have 30 points and two more are right behind with 29. So, there’s still a lot of work to do to stay in the second division, but a job well done this week.
